Around this time students are receiving their acceptance letters. Now it’s time to decide which school to attend in the fall. Choosing a college that’s best for you takes some thought and consideration. Students have to consider numerous factors such as cost and location. Join us on IG Live as we interview a college access alumnus about his final decision making process and college experience.
We also have a few tips to help you make your final decision:
Make sure you fit in at the institution and you are comfortable with living there for the next 4 years.
Connect with current students who attend the colleges you’re considering. Ask them about their experiences. What do they like and dislike about their school?
Consider what extracurricular activities are important to you. Do you want to go to a school that’s big on sports? Do you prefer a school with various greek letter organizations?
Compare financial aid award letters and consider which school is the best financial fit. Be sure to think of all of your expenses including transportation, food, technology and books.
What would you major in at this school? How does the program, staff, and network compare to others? Are there research opportunities in the field you’re interested in?
Keep in mind the postgraduate success of students. Which schools offer internships or co-op programs, career counseling, job placement support and active alumni networks?
Explore each school’s mission and values. Note how they care for their students. How did your top schools respond to the coronavirus outbreak? Are they providing refunds for room and board? Are they providing resources for online learning as well as alternative grading opportunities for students?
